Sichuan University (SCU) is one of the most prestigious and comprehensive research universities in China, recognized as a national key institution directly under the Ministry of Education. Founded in 1896 as the Sichuan Chinese and Western School, it has undergone several mergers, including with Chengdu University of Science and Technology and West China Medical University, to form its modern structure. SCU spans three campuses in Chengdu, covering 470 hectares, and hosts over 60,000 students, including more than 3,000 international students.

The university offers a broad range of programs across its 33 colleges, including arts, sciences, engineering, medicine, law, and more. It is authorized to grant doctoral degrees in 44 disciplines, and several of its academic fields, like chemistry and engineering, are ranked in the top 1% globally according to Essential Science Indicators. SCU is also active in international collaboration, maintaining partnerships with over 300 institutions worldwide and running joint programs with leading universities in the USA, Europe, and Asia.
